Every year alumni, parents, students, and faculty and staff come together on Scarlet & Give Back Day to make Grinnell shine brighter by being a piece of the Grinnell experience.

The Alumni Care Package project was launched in 2014 by a group of alums on the Everyday Class Notes (ECN) Facebook page. Alums were reminiscing about the old Carnegie Hall mailroom where some of them received notes or small gifts from prior mailbox owners, then paid it forward by sending something to the new mailbox owner after they graduated.

Two Grinnell College students have been selected as this year’s recipients of the Fischlowitz Travel Fellowship, a program that supports students coming to Grinnell from outside of the U.S. to pursue casual yet purposeful independent travel in the United States centered around a theme of deep personal and intellectual exploration.

As Executive Director of Seed Coalition, a group of colleges and universities focused on community and civic engagement, Rob Barron ’02 has two pieces of advice that he gives to the college students he encounters.

This formal celebration of faculty distinction on Thursday, February 5.

For the many Grinnellians who knew Mrs. Renfrow Smith personally, as well as the countless others who were inspired by her remarkable life as a Grinnellian who strived always to serve the common good and to live life to the fullest, her passing holds great meaning.

Thanks to donor support, anthropology major Noah Biniam ’26 has traveled from Ecuador to Atlanta pursuing his dream of becoming a filmmaker. Learn more about Noah’s time at Grinnell and the valuable lessons he’s learned.

First opened in 1918, the historic residence has long welcomed generations of alumni. The dedication marked the beginning of its next chapter, unveiling a resplendent renovation that transforms the 107-year-old home into a comfortable hub where alumni can relax, socialize, network, and reminisce whenever they return to Grinnell.

Grinnell College has been recognized with the 2024–25 Best of CASE District VI Award in the category of Special Events: In-Person (Multi-Day) for the dedication of Renfrow Hall. The honor, announced last week by the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), highlights the collaborative work that made the September 2024 celebration a powerful tribute to community, legacy, and place.
